Buy Kosher Wine to Pair with Chocolate

kosher wineIs there anything better than chocolate? Pairing red or white wines with chocolate of course! Since palates differ, there is no right or wrong pairings. Some people want a wine just as sweet as the chocolate, while others feel it is overkill. It will take some experimentation to find the best match, but a good rule of thumb is to match light chocolates with light wines and stronger chocolates with full bodied wines.

What about white chocolate? White chocolate has a mellow flavor and actually pairs really well with Sherry, a Moscato d’Asti, or an orange Muscat. They will blend well with the creaminess. However, if you’re looking to go for the opposite affect, try a Zinfandel which has more tannins. When dining on milk chocolate, you can pair it with a Pinot Noir, a light bodied Merlot, Riesling, sparkling wine, or a ruby Port –which is actually a classic match. When in doubt, go with the Port.

Dark chocolates will need a wine that can hold up to their rich and bittersweet flavors. Consider a robust Cabernet or a Zinfandel. A Pinot Noir or a Merlot are also great choices as well. Stock up a variety of kosher wine and let the chocolate tasting begin!
