red winesIt’s time for yet another informative post about wine. Today’s topic of choice is serving the wine. You know how to store it, but do you know how to properly serve it? Red wines are often served at around room temperature, while white wines are always served chilled. If a wine is too warm, it can have a not-so pleasant affect on the taste and make it seem unbalanced. If a wine is served too cold, the natural flavors and aromas can be suppressed. Here are the optimal temperatures for serving various wines:

When it comes time to serve, you should open the bottle and let it “breathe” for a bit before pouring it. If you’ve had the misfortune of breaking the cork while opening it, you don’t have to toss out the bottle. It is still safe to drink. Just pour it through a strainer first to catch any pieces. Always pour the wine into its matching glass. Red wine goblets are the larger glasses. The large glass allows the wine to breathe even more when you swirl the glass.
