Considering having a little get-together with your besties? Instead of throwing a big dinner party, why not consider having a wine and cheese party? Have you ever met someone who doesn’t like wine, or better yet, cheese? Actually, I have met a very small number of non-cheese lovers and I tell you it’s just not natural! But if you’re fortunate enough to have all cheese-loving friends, prepare the cheese platters!
If you’re not concerned about specific pairings, just pick up a few bottles of your favorite red and white wines and a ton of cheese! However, here are some basic guidelines for pairing them. White wines are best with soft cheeses and ones with stronger flavors. Red wines match best with harder cheese and milder flavors. Remember that the more pungent the cheese, the sweeter the wine should be. If you’re not interested in switching wines, you can choose sweet, fruity white wine or dessert wine because they will go with a wide variety of cheeses.
