The Online Kosher Wine Blog
The other night my girlfriend and I had a hankering for red wines. It was getting dark early, and the day was blustery and cold. Red wines will be perfect for our souls, we thought. And so even though it was tempting to stay inside and go to sleep early, we knew what we needed to do.
We trekked to the store, our hair blowing in the wind, arm in arm. When we arrived, red-cheeked, we considered the options for red wines. We thought about Cabernet Sauvignon, but I said, nah, that’s too table winey. We considered pinot noir, but it seemed a little light. We want something to warm our bodies, to feel better about the oncoming winter. Something full bodied, hearty and delicious. How about a Malbec?
Yes, a Malbec. It’s good to try red wines that you don’t normally drink. Robust tannins meant that this wine had some airing out to do. These red wines have thick skin, which means they need more sun and take a longer time to mature. After airing, I detected strains of plum and dark berry in these red wines.
How savory, I thought lolling it on my tongue. White wines wouldn’t do; these red wines are delicious.
